So after beating Elesa last week, I took some time training up in the areas surrounding Nimbasa City, which evolved Boston into Excadrill. Bianca showed me a hidden grotto that contained a Mincinno... that I completely ignored. I fought the trainers on Route 5, including a certain heartbreaker. His name... Charles. With my primary team of 3 we quickly took care of his Triple Battle team. Jeff and I made our way over Driftveil Drawbridge into the city where we found a member of Team Plasma talking to someone who claims they used to be a member. He invited Jeff and I to learn more about Team Plasma's past. So I ignored him and made my way to Route 6.

My real goal was to make it to Chargestone Cave. On the way there, my Gemini evolved into Magneton. I had two goals in Chargestone Cave. Evolve Gemini, and catch the next member of my team. Neither was difficult as Gemini only needed one level in the Cave to evolve into Magnezone. I also quickly found a Klink, caught it and named it Metallica.

Having finished what I set out to do, I made my way back to Driftveil, spoke to the former Team Plasma, then had one last preparation for fighting the gym. I found the Move Tutor in town and taught Ice Punch to Squash (Lucario). Getting through the gym was easy, with Boston clearing out most of the trainers. I decided to be daring and fought Clay without going back to heal. Boston quickly went down to his Krokorok. Squash finished off Krokorok, got one hit off on Sandslash, then went down herself. Gemini came out and took out Sandslash. Finally, Clay's own Excadrill came out. Gemini missed Supersonic and went down to one Bulldoze. I sent out Klink and decided my best chance at winning was to revive Boston and try to outspeed. So that's what I did. Boston came out, outsped Excadrill and won the fight with a single hit.

I went with Clay and Jeff to the World Tournament where the team of Boston, Squash, and Gemini (but mostly just Boston) easily gave me the win.

QOTW: My favorite Gym Leader in Unova is Elesa in BW and Roxie in B2W2, mostly due to design. I also like the way Elesa helps Bianca in the first game

Finished week 4! 🙌

• I forgot I have dupes clause on, so apparently, I could've redone my Route 6 encounter since I encountered Minccino twice (and also one of my older encounters too since I found two Patrat), but since I forgot my own rules to the nuzlocke, I'm just going to leave my encounters as is. In the future, I'll redo the encounter if it's a duplicate, but I don't really feel like backtracking to previous encounters at this point.
• I actually redid my Lostlorn Forest encounter because I got a male Combee on my first encounter, and after discussing with people on the Discord, I decided to go back and redo it. I guess it's a good thing I KO'd the male and didn't catch it. xD
• I got lost in Clay's gym and thought I wouldn't be able to finish this week before my mom got off work. Turns out as soon as I complained about not being able to find Clay on the Discord, I find him. Funny how that works out.
• My favorite gym leader is Skyla. I just really like her character design.

As I walked out of the Nimbasa City gym, Elesa and her friends stopped me to escort me out of the gym to cheers from the audience. It was actually really nice, and it made me wonder if she did that for all of her opponents! I hope she does!

It's gotten warmer outside, which is really nice. Spring is here, and I really appreciate the warmer temperatures. I really did not dress for the cold weather! As I was making my way towards Route 5 from the city, I saw Hugh with four Team Plasma grunts. We end up working together to challenge them, and Seri and I easily take down the two grunts that we took on. Hugh heals Seri, and then he walks off after the battle.

I progressed to Route 5, where I met up with Bianca again. She gave me HM Fly, not that I can really use it right now because I have no Flying type Pokemon, and she taught me about Hidden Grottos. She took me to one on Route 5, but I decided not to interact with the Pokemon there. Instead, I went out to the grassy area on the route itself, where I encountered a female Minccino. I caught her, but the mysterious voice reminded me that I couldn't use her. I nicknamed her T. Swift regardless though.

I encountered a motorcyclist named Charles on Route 5, who wanted to do a Triple Battle with me. Unfortunately, all I had was Seri, so I tried to go around him. Unfortunately, I was unable to do that either. I paused for a moment to think and consider what to do. I decided to go over to Route 6 and Lostlorn Forest to try and pick up a couple more Pokemon there. On Route 6, I encountered a second Minccino, this time male, but Seri knocked it out, so I was unable to catch it. In the Lostlorn Forest, I encountered a male Combee, which I wanted to catch, but Seri knocked that one out too.

I sighed. I still had just Seri, and I needed three Pokemon to progress forward to Driftveil City. The mysterious voice told me I could take two of my Pokemon that were knocked out in battle back out of the PC to progress forward, so I took Breeze and Alizeh out to challenge Charles with. The three of us won together, and I went back to put them back in the PC.

Finally able to progress forward, I made it to the Driftveil Drawbridge, where I picked up some shiny bird feathers and a new friend to the party, Pond the female Ducklett! When I got to Driftveil City, I ran into two Team Plasma grunts, one from the old Team Plasma and one from the new. Hugh chased the new grunt off, and I let the new one, who invited me to his house, go. I decide to go to the Plasma house, where I'm challenged by a man named Rood for entry into the house. I win, and Hugh arrives as well. We're both allowed inside, and Rood tells his story of reform following the events from two years ago. Hugh demands to know where his sister's Purrloin is, but Rood can't give him any answers. Hugh isn't forgiving, but I am. I was allowed to adopt N's Zorua, but the mysterious force told me to put him in the PC, so I did.

The mysterious voice also told me to go back to the Lostlorn Forest to try and catch a Pokemon there. I guess it was willing to forgive my earlier encounter of a male Combee, maybe because even if I had caught him, he wouldn't have been able to evolve since only the female Combee can evolve into Vespiquen. Ironically enough, I actually encountered a female Vespiquen, who I caught and nicknamed Honeybee.

After some training, I went and challenged Clay to a gym battle. I was able to defeat him, and I didn't lose any of my Pokemon in the process! I earned the Quake Badge and TM Bulldoze for my successful victory, and I'm able to rest easy tonight knowing I still have Seri, Pond, and Honeybee by my side.

Seri the Sandslash

Pond the Ducklett

Honeybee the Vespiquen

Kai the Dewott (Defeated by Virbank City Gym Leader Roxie's Whirlipede.)

Breeze the Tranquill (Defeated by Nimbasa City Gym Leader Elesa's Emolga.)

Alizeh the Golbat (Defeated by Nimbasa City Gym Leader Elesa's Emolga.)

Alana the Roggenrola (Defeated by Nimbasa City Gym Leader Elesa's Emolga.)

Sandy the Sandile (Defeated by Nimbasa City Gym Leader Elesa's Emolga.)

Alright, time for more! But I don't know what I'm gonna do about the "story" at this point, but I digress! Enjoy.
  • So after beating Elesa, we made our way to the upper area of the city, where Hugh was dealing with Team Plasma. As we got them out of the way, he talked about his sister's Purrloin that was stolen many years ago. But he knew I had good instincts and was counting on me!
  • I decided to bring back Neuronette for now, and with that, we made way to Route 5, where there were some trainers. Most of them were pretty easy, but eventually we got to the heartbreaker, Charles. I had two Electric-types and a Water-type, so most of his team was simple enough, though his Sigilyph's Light Screen made it a little harder and set Neuronetta back a bit of EXP. And we dealt with a Pokémon Ranger who said she was gonna give us an "electrifying" battle but used Grass-types. Huh. Faints: Neuronetta (Charles' Sigilyph)
  • After finding some wings on the Driftveil Drawbridge, we entered Driftveil City. It wasn't long before an old Team Plasma grunt and a Neo Team Plasma grunt were quarrelling and trying to convince each other to change, but Hugh interrupted the fight with a pimp-slap! He then chased them on.
  • So I followed them to their home, where Rood wanted to see what kind of trainer I was. Heatwaver handled his Herdier, but was weakened and Swoobat finished it. Neuronetta handled it and gained some EXP. Then they tried to cover themselves and apologize, but Hugh refused to buy it, only caring about his sister's Pokémon.
  • Then we explored the emerald city. There were some cool items to be spread around, like the Air Balloon, getting some Incense, and the Shell Bell. We also took on Charles again, significantly easier in Rotation format, especially when his entire team is weak to Electric.
  • I also took to Pokéstar Studios where I did a movie about a red fog… But it took a second take because the idiot co-actor dealt a critical hit on the last hit. The director got annoyed with that one, hey, blame it on him, not me! But we got it right the second time and we made through the fog.
  • With the Gym Leader up ahead, I thought, hey, Clay may be the last battle I use Resonation in, so I got him some EXP along with a few of my other team members by going through Pokémon Breeder Galen a couple times.
  • As for the Gym trainers, this was all about Scalfi, Philly and Mambo, and a little bit of Resonation. We soon made our way to Clay, where he was ready to see what I was made of!

As he began with Krokorok, I opened with Philly, who was met with an Intimidate… But I had Defiant, which made my Attack +1!!! But he was still faster and used Torment, and I used Fly to OHKO him, but not before he used Sandstorm.
Onix was next, and I used Scary Face… But he used Rock Polish as I took another round of Sandstorm damage. I used Return to bust his Sturdy, as he used another Rock Polish. I was then out another outing of Sandstorm, as he used Explosion and got me to 1/3. Sandstorm got me into the red…
And then he brought in Sandslash, who was faster. Fly did over half before the sandstorm subsided. Or we were speed tied. I got him into the red with Aerial Ace before Rock Slide finished me. I brought in Heatwaver as he used his Hyper Potion and I lowered his Speed with Scary Face. Fire Fang did around 1/4 before Bulldoze got the OHKO. Mambo came in and Giga Drain slammed him for the KO as Mambo grew to Level 29.
Excadrill was last, and immediately hit with a Metal Claw for over half before I used Cotton Spore. Needle Arm dealt light before Bulldoze scored a critical hit for the KO. I brought in Resonation and used Reflect before he used Bulldoze for 1/4. But Leftovers was propping me alive, and I took a Slash for a moderate hit before he used Growl. I brought in Neuronetta to take a weak Metal Claw, then switched Scalfi into…a BULLDOZE?!?! That did 1/4 my health and got the Speed drop. He then missed a Slash before Razor Shell got him near 1/4, lowered his Defense, and propped his Sitrus Berry. I brought in Resonation again, and Metal Claw did 1/3 before Leftovers. I got in the Reflect again before Bulldoze was light. I sacked off Neuronetta to a Rock Slide, and Scalfi used Razor Shell for the win.

So with that, I received the Quake Badge and TM78 for Bulldoze, which is cool. He then used his lift to get me back to the entrance quickly, and then after a persuasive conversation with Hugh, invited us to the PWT. Before closing this part out, I did another Pokéstar Studios film, one that had me playing as a scientist girl who has to save some snazzy glasses from a time machine to save it. Fascinating. Anyway, we'll take care of the PWT next time!

So, that was the next Gym. I found it odd when that Onix doubled its Speed only to blow up instead of hitting with a super-effective Rock Slide. And then Sandslash went over alright, but Excadrill was something to have to handle. Kinda funny when the foe uses a not very effective move (that's Pokemon AI for you) and yet scores a critical hit to finish you. There were some things that helped in that one, like the Reflect and Growl, but I couldn't stay in with Scalfi after being hit by an unexpected Bulldoze when I had a Flying-type out. WUT. But overall, fun fight, considering again this may be the last fight Resonation is on the team for.
One thing that I can't help but like is the bit where two Team Plasma grunts are quelling and Hugh just jumps in and slaps out of nowhere. Making a statement in that situation is one thing I like about him. The renovations that Driftveil City went through in 2 are a cool touch as well. Shows how much of a businessman Clay is! But that'll do it for right now.
As for my favorite Unova Gym Leader, that would be the one I just faced here. Clay was always one that entertained me not only with how much fun his cowboy style dialogue was but the fact that he was an extravagant excavator. He transformed the city big time over the course of the two years between games. And he usually provides a fun fight.

Alright, here's week 4 as well! I even managed to do it before the next week starts this time pats self on shoulder

  • After deliberating for a while, I decided to catch a Trapinch :trapinch: after all. After about 45 minutes of searching for one, I finally encounter a male Trapinch and catch the little guy with a Quick Ball. Now what to to name him?

Me: 'I should name him after one of my favorite artists/bands.'
My inner memelord: 'Name him Darude instead.'

And so it happened. Welcome Darude the Trapinch to the team.
  • And with that, Rocket the Lillipup  is retired from the active roster. Thanks for your help in battle and the supplies you gathered, little pupper!
  • We beat a heartbreaker... whose name... Charles.
  • We met the former Team Plasma in Driftveil City. Hugh made a scene. (man I dislike Hugh so much)
  • We beat the trainers in Clay's gym. After that, I was a bit underleveled still, so I wanted to train up against the Audino on Route 6. Apparently, those Audino were only level 23 though, which made training take forever. Screw it, I'll fight Clay now. We challenge Clay with our team between level 29 (Caelum) and 32 (Asparagus).
The battle against Clay was actually the first one to give us some difficulties. I led with Asparagus :servine: against Krokorok :krokorok:. My initial plan was to set up Leech Seed, get 6 Growths and then sweep everything. However, the Krokorok used Torment and gave Asparagus a drop in both Speed and Defense with Bulldoze and Crunch, so I couldn't get in more than one Growth before knocking Krokorok out.
Sandslash :sandslash: was next and hit Asparagus down to half health with Crush Claw, with Asparagus getting it to half in return with Leaf Tornado. I switched to Caelum :dunsparce: and paralyzed Sandslash with Glare. Even thought I used Roost once, Caelum only got Sandslash to its red HP with Return before being knocked out by a crit Bulldoze. After a Hyper Potion from Clay, Asparagus :servine: took it out in round 2, but got knocked to his red health region in return.
Next was Excadrill :excadrill:, so I sent out Napoleon :magmar:, who had the Expert Belt equipped. After some deliberation, I chose Flame Burst over Fire Punch, which may have been a mistake, as Excadrill lived the attack by a sliver and OHKOed Napoleon with Bulldoze. I figured Asparagus :servine: could take it out, as Magmar had outsped Excadrill and Servine only had 3 speed points less. I was wrong. Because I hadn't healed Asparagus, he fell to a Rock Slide from Excadrill.
Finally, I sent out Pyxis :steelix: and partly because Clay's AI derped and didn't use Bulldoze, she knocked Excadrill out with one Dig. Quake badge get!

EDIT: Oops, I forgot the QOTW. My favorite Gym Leader from Unova is definitely Clay. I like his no-nonsense approach to things. Plus, out of all Gym Leaders, I feel like he's the most like a mayor, developing Driftveil City into a luxury touristic destination from scratch in the span of only two years. Tell me, which other Gym Leader can say they did the same?

Week 5 — Flying High!
I'm a little late, but we've started Week 5! With that, we're officially halfway through. The goal this time is going to beat the Gym Leader of Mistralton City, Skyla!

Question of the week:
In Black 2 and White 2, there are a bunch of changes from their prequels. What's your favorite new mechanic, element, or feature? What things do you miss?

This week's nicknaming theme:
Characters from TV shows, movies, or anime

Yeehaw week 5 we making progress now

I spent a lot of time trying to get everyone to level 30 because Stunky was only level like 20 and the only ones OVER 30 were Sealeo and Jumpluff. Eventually I managed to get everyone up to 32, meaning Steel Spud evolved into Lairon, and Larry Butz up to level 30. Having Toxic and Venoshock made him actually able to damage things now.
Had to do the PWT again because I did it then exited without saving so that's fun but it was easy enough. I also had to rename Larry to Larry Butz again because of the same mistake.
Fight some plasma goons on the frigate, nothing too bothersome, Narky finally learned Flame Burst thank GOD because Incinerate and Fire Spin are NOT STRONG.
Chargestone Cave was no bother either, I love Chargestone and its pretty crystals so it never is a bother anyway. Somewhere during the cave Flump learned Acrobatics too which is more excellent news! We get through, get a master ball from Juniper, go and do all of the route up to Twist Mountain and the creepy cool tower. Get some more TMs too! I end up teaching Narky shadow claw so it doesnt have to use Lick anymore.
Oh Juniper also gives us the lucky egg, FANTASTIC because I want my team to hurry up and evolve. I give it to Boris since he'll be my ace in the hole for this flying gym. Oh speaking of, Larry Butz does evolve into Skuntank and learns Flamethrower, top notch.
I was right and Boris Aurora Beams most of the Pokemon in there, got Steel Spud Rock Tombing and Iron Heading some binches as well.
Skyla was the first Gym Leader I didn't feel like I had to cheese. Boris took care of Unfezant, I had to get Larry Butz to help with Swanna but Venoshock is strong as hell and Narky flame bursted Skarmory so it went well.
Got the rest of the TMs from Mistralton and that's about it! Because of how long it'll take to level up my last team member I'm going to just add it to my party now. I really should've chose something that resists rock since it destroys my team but nah I wanted to use a Salamence so I'm adding Shelgon to the team. For some god forsaken reason I caught it and named it Loaf so maybe I'll change that at some point but for now ehh whatever.

  • After getting the badge, I went to Route 16 again to level up my Pokemon. Both my Sandile and Flaffy evolved.
  • I and Hugh battled some Team Plasma grunts.
  • I went to Route 5 and battled some trainers there. I also battled a certain Motorcyclist named Charles and had a rotation battle with him.
  • I went straight to Driftveil City through the Driftveil Drawbridge.
  • On my way to Driftveil City I encountered former Team Plasma members.
  • I went to Route 6 to level up my Pokemon before the Gym battle. I also went to the Chargestone Cave and found a Water Stone for my Eevee. He evolved into Vaporeon.
  • So I went to the Gym to battle Clay. The battle was rather a bit tougher than the previous ones, but it was still easy.
  • I got the Quake Badge.
  • I put Kyzylkum in the PC as he was a temporary Pokemon on my team.

Completed week 5!

• Attract sucks. Thanks, Skyla's Swoobat for giving me a newfound hatred of it.
• New boxed friends include a female Deerling nicknamed Hinata, a Klink nicknamed Uryuu, a female Axew nicknamed Mao, and a male Zangoose nicknamed Akise. All names from Mirai Nikki because I've been watching that this month. Axew is a cutie btw.
• Also encountered a Basculin in Aspertia City, tried to catch it, failed because Toxic is a great 10/10 move to use against Pokemon that are about 20 levels lower than yours that you're also trying to catch and train up, and also it broke out of all my balls. Ironically, the Frillish I caught stayed in the first ball I threw, so y'know, RNG hates me or something, I guess.
• I forgot to make note of Frillish's nickname, so it may be wrong here, and I'll change it next week if it is tbh. I don't feel like turning my 3DS back on just to find out a nickname.
I totally didn't have to look anything up to answer this week's QOTW. A couple of things I liked were being able to get a Zorua without events, like in BW, and also being able to rechallenge the Breeders on routes when you exited and reentered. It really helped with grinding! One of the things I miss is Striaton's gym because I really liked the concept of it.

When I left the gym, Clay invited Hugh and me to the Pokemon World Tournament to the south of the city. There, he has me, Hugh, and Cheren participate in the Driftveil Tournament. I only had three Pokemon, but I shrugged and entered anyways. I was against Hugh first, who I beat, followed by Cheren, who I also beat, and finally Colress, who also got beat by me. I became the tourney winner, and for my efforts, I earned 1 BP. That... really wasn't a lot for 3 battles, and it wasn't very rewarding for the effort put in.

Outside, Team Plasma shows up, and Hugh, Cheren, and I follow them to their base to fight them. Total, I battled six grunts, two with Cheren and two with Hugh. We defeat all of the grunts easily. A man that Cheren recognized as Zinzolan and his Shadow Triad arrive, and they kick us off the ship, which disappears shortly after. Hugh is frustrated by this and chases after them, and Cheren and I go our separate ways.

I travel to Route 6, where I encounter a female Deerling. I caught her, of course being reminded that I can't use her, but I nicknamed her Hinata anyways. I run into Cheren again, who takes me into a building to tell me about strange weather changes happening in Unova. He gives me HM Surf and apologizes for pulling me away from my journey.

As I traveled along Route 6, a Pokemon appears in front of me for a moment before hopping off. Rood and an old man show up shortly after. The old man called the Pokemon a Cobalion, and Rood recommended I become friends with it. Not sure how I'll manage that when it disappeared just as quickly as it came, but I guess I could try.

There was a lady in a house along the route who allowed me to rest and heal my Pokemon, which I appreciated. Chargestone Cave was a tedious struggle. I ran into Bianca upon entering, and she told me I could push the floating stones to move them. That was a nice tidbit of advice that I appreciated. Inside the cave, I encountered a Klink that I caught (and was again unable to use) and nicknamed Uryuu.

Once I made it to Mistralton City, I taught Pond Fly and Surf so I could go back and try to catch some new friends. The voice in my head reminded me that I could pick up a Pokemon in Aspertia City and Virbank City now that I had Surf, and I figured now was a good a time as any to catch them. After all, I only had three Pokemon on my team, and my next gym battle with Mistralton City's gym leader was fast approaching. Having another Pokemon or two on my team would really be helpful. In Aspertia City, I encountered a female Basculin that I really tried to catch, but Honeybee's Toxic KO'd it before the Poke Balls I threw clicked shut. It was a little disappointing, but I ran into a male Frillish in Virbank City that I was able to catch. I nicknamed him Spiky.

I decided to backtrack to Mistralton Cave after that, but it was too dark for me to really explore. I was able to encounter a female Axew though, and cute as she was, I was unable to use her after capturing her. I nicknamed her Mao and deposited her in the PC with the other Pokemon I'm unable to use on my journey.

Back in Mistralton City, I ran into Professor Juniper for the first time. She evaluated my Pokedex, and she also gave me a Master Ball. After speaking with Skyla for a moment, she went off to the Celestial Tower. I decided to follow her because I figured it was worth a chance to get another Pokemon or two on my team. There was a lady in a house on Route 7 as well who allowed me to rest in her house, which I really appreciated, especially since I spent a lot of time here training before my battle with Skyla. Mom also called to remind me to take my Pokemon to a Pokemon Center if they needed healing. I told her I would, but she didn't have to tell me that twice. I also encountered a male Zangoose on Route 7, who I caught, was reminded that I couldn't use, and nicknamed Akise. I had my first rotation battle with Youngster Joey too, which I won.

I tried to enter Twist Mountain, but an Elite Four member by the name of Marshal told me I couldn't enter because it was unsafe. I was a little bummed out, but I turned around and made my way to the Celestial Tower. At least there, I could still get another Pokemon. Inside, I met up with Professor Juniper, who gave me a Lucky Egg, which also really helped as I trained my Pokemon in preparation for Skyla. I also found a male Litwick inside that I caught and nicknamed Blaze. I made my way to the top of the tower, where I rang the bell in honor of all of the Pokemon that have left this world.

On my way back to Mistralton City, Pond evolved into a Swanna! I challenged Skyla's gym and it was a rough battle! Her Swoobat was a toughie, but my Pokemon were tougher and we stuck it out to win the battle! No Pokemon lost either, though there were admittedly some close calls. I didn't want to lose another friend though, and especially not either of the two friends I'd just caught, so I played things a little more carefully this time so I could keep all my friends. I earned the Jet Badge and TM Acrobatics for my efforts! Skyla wondered what Professor Juniper was up to... I wonder if she made it back to Mistralton City yet. It's been a while since I was at the Celestial Tower, after all.

Beating Burgh was easyish. I leveled Foxglove, :golbat: up, and she helped me beat that bug gym leader, though I also used Goofy :lucario:. His Force Palm helped me a lot, paralyzing the bugs. I think the cocoon thing was cool.

Beating Elesa was harder. Also, before facing her I tried the bumper car ride. It was nice. I think I lost once or twice against Elesa, but then I caught a Sandile :sandile: (named him Louis after the Princess and the Frog's crocodile) though I didn't level him up much. He was mostly there to counter the Volt Switch. Then I also leveled Goofy up, and he learned Bone Rush, which was also a big help against Elesa's electric Pokemon.

This is a screenshot of my team after beating Elesa

I thought the battle against Clay could be a little bit easier, but no, of course not. He managed to knock both Goofy and Pudge :dewott: out, before I switched to Gus :marill:. He was stronger than I thought and managed to knock Clay's last Pokemon out. Didn't really bother to record those battles, though.
Extra notes:
  • Gus evolved into an Azumarill :azumarill:. I decided that I'm now going to let both Foxglove and Pudge too.
  • I'm happy Pokemon don't lose HP when they're poisoned while walking like other gens did.
  • I was given N's Zorua :zorua: to hold onto, though I'm assuming it in't permanent and at some point I'll return him. Zorua doesn't have a name, but maybe if it had been up to me I would have named him Nick after Nick Wilde from Zootopia.
  • I'm really enjoying this gen, have to admit.
  • I haven't used Join Avenue. Maybe I wuld have been interested in another circumstance, but for now it's all right.
  • I'll answer the question about my favorite gym leader at the end, but for now it may either be Elesa or Clay.

Week 5
Alright, that's 6 badges in my case! The PWT continues to be a lot of fun, even if I can't do a lot there quite yet. Chargestone Cave is about the same as it ever was. I also went ahead and explored previous areas a bit more now that I have Surf, so that was neat.

What I do have to report on is the status of my team. Between Chargestone Cave and exploring east of Mistralton and Celestial Tower, I had a whopping 4 members of my team evolve! Pepper has become an Emboar, Gemini has become a Weezing, Cairo has become a Vibrava, and DearHunter has become a Sawsbuck! No more baby school for this skeleton!

Skyla and her Gym were a bit tough, but nothing my newly beefed-up team couldn't handle. More tedious than anything, really.

As for this week's question, I like the new areas to explore. Wandering through new places is one of my favorite parts of a Pokemon game, and I'm glad there was some of that in B2W2.

Alright, time for this week! Got it out just in time for the deadline, I think... Either way, enjoy.
  • With access to the PWT, I wasted no time in going to the second area in the Relic Passage so I could after dealing with a couple trainers get to the Relic Castle, where I caught myself a Baltoy that I named Ceramic. I wasted no time in adding it to the team. Unfortunately, I had to teach Strength to Braviary so I could even get to the Relic Castle…
  • I also decided to change Braviary's nickname to Swoop. Just felt it had a better fit to it.
  • And with that, we took to the Pokémon World Tournament! There wasn't too much to discuss but there were some annoyances. Faints: Heatwaver (Hugh's Servine)
  • With that, we had to chase Team Plasma to the dock! It was a chance to let Ceramic gain some EXP, but not all was in that stead. There was quite a bit to gain, though. We then cleaned house in the Relic Passage and dealt with the rest of the trainers.
  • Afterwards we took to Route 6 and dealt with a few more trainers, and along the way met with Cheren, who spoke of some super cold weather and gave me HM03 for Surf, which I immediately gave to Scalfi. I then went back to a few areas and got some items that require Surf, like TM53 for Energy Ball, and a Rare Candy in Virbank City.
  • And after going through the rest of Route 6 and witnessing Cobalion, I took to Mistralton Cave. There were a few tough Ace Trainers, though, thanks to their usage of fossils and Axew's Dragon Dance. Oh yeah, and while on Route 6, Jupiter evolved into Ampharos! But I decided to leave it behind for the time being and let Neuronetta do some work for now.
  • As for Chargestone Cave, yeah, this area was also quite annoying. There were a lot of tough opponents in this outing. I was pretty under-leveled, because Challenge Mode, and let's just say that there were a lot of faints here. ESPECIALLY Ceramic. Even with the Eviolite.
  • But we made our way into Mistralton City, where we met face to face with Professor Juniper, and she gave me a Master Ball. Skyla wasn't far behind her, though! She invited me to her Gym. But first, we had other orders of business to deal with…
  • …Like going through Route 7! Throughout these last few areas I swapped between Mambo and my two Electric-types. This route wasn't too bad, but the worst thing to deal with was by far a Nursery Aide with a Cinccino. Tail Slap and Sing is very not fun.
  • Celestial Tower, on the other hand, was twice as annoying. I left There were quite a few obnoxious fights here, multiple times my team members got confused, and really just an unpleasant time. At least we reached the top of the tower. And did our duty. #RingTheBell Shameless Philly advertising, everybody!
  • We then had the Mistralton Gym to do. I left Mambo behind for this one. There were some strong trainers, but at least they gave a lot of EXP! And then after some adjustments, it was time for the Gym Leader, Skyla, who was ready to see me take her after not getting swept off my feet.
This took a second try. First try I wasted Liberty and Ceramic against Swoobat for literally no reason, and it came down to just Scalfi against Sigilyph, with Skarmory still to go, who was knocked into the red and about to be KO'd, so I reset.
As she began with Swoobat, I opened with Jupiter. Psychic did under half as I used Charge and gained some Leftovers, and after another Psychic I was barely hanging on but ThunderPunch got the OHKO.
Swanna was next and got the KO with Surf. I brought in Neuronetta, and she used Feather Dance, which is all fine and dandy with me. I paralyzed her with Thunder Wave and slammed her with Electro Ball, and Neuronetta grew to Level 36.
Sigilyph was next and missed with Hypnosis, and promptly got paralyzed. Electro Ball… OHKO'd with a critical hit. A well deserved critical hit, no less.
Skarmory was last. I paralyzed it with Thunder Wave as she used Agility. I tried to let Scalfi in on it as she used Agility once again. Aerial Ace did under half, and my Surf did decently. She was fully paralyzed, and Surf got her into the range where her Sitrus Berry propped her up. She got fully paralyzed again. Surf. For the win. GG.

So I received the Jet Badge and TM62 for Acrobatics, which is pretty cool. I then made my way back outside and got TM40 for Aerial Ace thanks to two crafty kids. And I brought back Mambo, as I left Neuronetta behind because she was higher leveled than everyone else. We'll take to the skies next time!

I swear, one day I am gonna have to straighten out all the updates I have here and not even bother with the "story"... I have been so unorganized this time around.

But anyway, for the QotW, I just really liked what was added to the Unova region, including the new locations, characters and even some of the layouts. The new music in said new locations, too. And a certain story element that we'll get to later... And being able to use old Pokemon. There really isn't that much that I miss, honestly.

Week 6 — A Feat of Legends
The goal for this week is gonna be a little longer because of story, but we're gonna keep on pace to beat the Elite 4 :winkazurill: This time we'll be playing until we defeat gym leader Drayden!

Question of the week:
In Unova, parts of the region change depending on which version you're playing. Which areas do you prefer?

This week's nicknaming theme:
Endangered animals

  • Sasuke Tsubaki from Sket Dance
  • Sasuke Uchiha from Naruto series
  • Eosinophil from Cells at Work
  • Len Tsukimori from La Corda d'Oro (or should I say Kiniro no Corda?)
QOTW: I'd say that the Memory Link is quite interesting, for having flashbacks and stuffs. But still, I also miss Route 10 here, especially thanks to its catchy BGM.

Whew has it been a week, but here I am for the week 6 update!

• In addition to Attract, Perish Song also sucks. Thanks Lapras.
• I actually don't remember too much about this week other than I spent quite a bit of time trying to catch a Lapras at the Village Bridge only for it to use Perish Song round 1 and break out of the 2 balls I threw at it. So much for having an actual Ice type for Drayden, amirite. Oh, and I remembered dupes clause is a thing I set for this.
• I also don't really remember too many area differences between BW and BW2, but I did like how the events of BW had an effect on BW2's environment. It was nice to see that Game Freak was doing something different by giving us sequels instead of just a third game, and I really appreciate that.
• Also, Lacunosa Town's lore with the monster at night thing gave me a story idea that I may one day write and publish here!!
• I also forgot to double check my Frillish's nickname, but it's okay because he's KO'd now. :c
• I'm not going to add a spoiler for my box in this post because I'm pretty sure Stormy the Marill is the only one in it, and even if he's not, I'm pretty sure I have less than 4 boxed Pokemon anyways. I'll be taking out Pokemon at the start of my next post when I can get to the Pokemon Center.

After my gym battle with Skyla, Professor Juniper invited me on the plane too. I agreed since it would get me past Twist Mountain as it was inaccessible to me right now. Bianca also joined us, and after a brief plane ride, we arrived in Lentimas Town. Once there, Professor Juniper sends me to Opelucid City to meet with Drayden and get more help in the fight against Team Plasma. I agreed. I had to go to Opelucid City anyways to get my next gym badge, so I wasn't really going out of my way to do it.

At Reversal Mountain, I ran into Bianca, who needed some help getting around, so I agreed to help her out. I was also able to add another Pokemon to my team there! I caught Cotton the Woobat there. We also found the spot where Heatran possibly lived, which was pretty cool. I feel like I've seen so many legendary Pokemon on my journal, but this is the first time where I've really seen where one lived, or at least possibly lived.

I arrived at Undella Town, where I encountered a Staryu that I caught and nicknamed Estella. I also ran into Hugh, who challenged me to a battle. He didn't really give me too much of a choice, but that was okay, I suppose. I did lose Seri to his Unfezant and Pond to his Serperior, but I still won the battle. It was a little bit of a bummer losing Seri and Pond, but it could've been worse. I could've lost all of my Pokemon but one. That's not a fun situation at all, and I'm glad it didn't become a reality again.

I traveled to Undella Bay and picked up a Mantyke that I nicknamed Stingray. It took a little bit to find her because I found some Frillish and Jellicent that the voice told me to ignore. It wasn't until I found the Mantyke that I heard it say "catch it or lose your encounter for this route." I didn't want to lose an encounter, especially after losing Seri and Pond in my fight with Hugh, so I took the Mantyke.

On Route 13, I encountered a Tangela, but I knocked it out before I even had an opportunity to catch it. It was okay, I suppose. I wouldn't have been able to use her anyways. The mysterious voice wouldn't have let me. I arrived in Lacunosa Town shortly after I encountered the Tangela, and I met up with Professor Juniper and Bianca there. Professor Juniper takes us to an old lady's house, where we're told the story about Lacunosa Town and how the town's residents fear going out at night because of a monster that would eat them if they did. It sounded almost like one of those folk tales, but from talking to people around town, it seemed like people really believed it.

Oh well. I made my way out of the town and ran into Zinzolan and Hugh on my way out. I fought alongside Hugh to challenge Zinzolan and a Team Plasma grunt, where we easily won. I continued forward to Route 12, where I encountered a male Combee that I was able to ignore and then a female Roselia that I caught and nicknamed Roselia. I would've loved to use her, but the voice reminded me that I couldn't. I feel like I've caught so many Pokemon that would be cool to use, and I just can't use them. It's a little disappointing.

I arrived at the Village Bridge, where I'm met by a cocky old man who claimed he had a 999 win streak. Must've been nice, but I beat him and ended his streak. I pressed forward to Route 11, where I encountered a Marill that I caught and nicknamed Stormy. He was nice to have as a back up in case I lost one of my other six Pokemon. It was nice to finally have a team of six Pokemon, and it was nice to finally be able to start collecting Pokemon to hang onto in case I needed them as back up. I also saw a Virizion on Route 11, and the voice told me I could try to catch it, but I ended up KOing it instead. I did try to catch it, but it was just too much of a struggle to actually go through with it.

I arrived at Opelucid City, where I ran into Iris. She suggested I go to Route 9, so I did. I met a female Muk there, but I KO'd it. I wasn't particularly interested in trying to catch it, so I just used it to train up my Pokemon a little more. I went back to the Village Bridge and spent quite a bit of time there trying to catch a Lapras. I heard it was possible to find one there if I just searched for the pools of rippling water. I found a lot of Marill and a few Basculin that was able to ignore before I finally found the Lapras.

And then it used Perish Song as soon as the battle started.

I knew I was on a timer, so Cotton, Spiky, and I tried to whittle down her HP enough to where I could throw a ball and catch it. Unfortunately, she broke out of the two balls I did get a chance to throw, and she KO'd herself. I sat in the water on Estella's back for a moment, just staring off into space. I sighed. All that time wasted on a Lapras that got away from me. I guess I had to be lucky that I didn't lose any Pokemon though. Good thing I wasn't locked into Cotton, or that would've been unfortunate.

I returned to Opelucid City and challenged Drayden to a gym battle. I was nervous going into this. The reason why I wanted a Lapras was because of its type advantage against Dragon types, which Drayden used in his battles. Without the Lapras though, I was counting on Estella and the Blizzard TM I used on her to serve me well in this battle. If anything went wrong in this battle, I risked losing all of my Pokemon and also my adventure. I was so close to the end. This badge and another, and I'd be able to challenge the Elite Four and the Unova Champion.

Luck was on my side today.

Estella's Blizzard froze Drayden's Druddigon, and I was able to force him to use his Hyper Potion. Estella was able to KO the Druddigon without taking any damage as it remained frozen for the duration of its time out on the field. His Flygon was one shot by Blizzard, which was very nice. It wasn't until his Haxorus came in that I started to have trouble. Haxorus' Dragon Tail did a number on my team, but with some teamwork, we were able to defeat it. It was Blaze's lucky Flame Burst on the Haxorus that sealed the victory for me. I was worried because Haxorus used Dragon Dance, and it was wiping the floor with my team, but Blaze managed to outspeed it and win! I earned the Legend Badge and TM Dragon Tail at the cost of Stingray, Spiky, Honeybee, and Cotton, but it was worth it. Stormy is in the box, so I'll just swap him into the team and start training him up on my way to the eighth and final badge. Blaze also evolved into Lampent!

I've got to meet Drayden outside though. He said he'd talk to me now that I've beaten him, so I guess now's the time for me to do what Professor Juniper asked of me.

Alright, I've been slacking a little on my playthrough, but I managed to beat Skyla! Here's my update for week 5:

  • After beating Clay in the previous update, he invites us to the PWT.
  • We defeat Cheren, Hugh and Colress in the PWT fairly easily.
  • I catch a female Drilbur :drilbur: because I need a Pokemon that can learn Cut to obtain a Heart Scale. I name her Toph.
  • We head over to Route 6 towards Mistralton City. At the weather institute on this route, Cheren gives us the HM for Surf.
  • There's not too many Pokemon with my allowed types that can learn Surf, so I evolve Rocket  into a Herdier :herdier: and teach him Surf and Strength. I like that the little guy gets to play another role on my team.
  • We head through Mistralton Cave. I allow Darude :trapinch: to gain a bit of a lead in training, so he can evolve into a Vibrava :vibrava:. The increase in his Speed and defensive stats is a welcome boost and really makes up for the Attack drop.
  • We reach Mistralton City and head up to the Celestic Tower. While scaling the tower, Asparagus :servine: evolves into Serperior :serperior:.
  • We ring the bell at the top of the tower.
  • Once we are back down on the ground, I catch a male Tranquill :tranquill: to teach him Fly. Because I caught him pretty late, I decided to go with the new nicknaming theme (endangered animals) and named him Cockatoo.
  • We backtrack a little to get a few TMs, such as Energy Ball, which I teach to Asparagus.
  • I teach Thunder Fang and Autotomize to Pyxis at the Move Relearner.
  • We beat the gym trainers and then head on to challenge Skyla.
I lead against her Swoobat :swoobat: with Pyxis :steelix:. I set up Autotomize three times while Swoobat goes for Heart Stamp and Acrobatics, dealing more damage to herself than to me thanks to the Rocky Helmet held by Pyxis. Pyxis then easily outspeeds and takes out all of Skyla's Pokemon :swoobat: :swanna: :skarmory: with Thunder Fang and Rocky Helmet damage, earning us the Jet Badge!

I know I'm signing up like super late, but I generally play a lot at a time. Also I really wanted to do one of these.

Username: Feather32
In-game name: Alisha
Willing to battle using Pokémon Showdown: No
Which game you're playing: White 2 Randomizer (For More Fun/Surprises)

Here is Week One at the same time.

-Okay so I randomized the game moves/pokemon/trainers/starters/field items
-To start off my starter choices were pretty good Magnemite, Moltres, and Omanyte. I of course went with Moltres and named it Pepper.
-Fought and lost to Hugh's Omanyte, but that is okay hopefully I get something to counter it soon.
-I'm only going to catch one/two Pokemon per area/route so kind of like a nuzlocke, but not completely since this is randomized I wanted to be somewhat limited instead of getting everything I would want etc.
-I lost a Dexoys on the Route 19, but caught a Pupitar who I named Onion.
-Headed to Floccesy Ranch to give Hugh his Town Map.
-Battled a couple of trainers on Route 20.
-Caught a Scrafty on Route 20 named him Carrot.
-Headed into the Ranch and fought Hugh and his Omanyte, Carrot took care of him with some Karate Chops and gave him his Map.
-Off to find the missing Herdier
-Caught Ferroseed in the ranch and named him Lettuce as I don't like Lettuce and I don't think I'll be using him later either just not a fan of his design.
-Also decided to catch a Munna as my second for the area, since I love her so much, but then she used Explosion and I lost her. :(
-None of the trainers have anything special or really hard to beat with my team I got TM21 Overheat from the the Grunt though. :)
-One of Alder's students has a Hippowdon which is a bit difficult for me to beat. Couple of my team members fainted, but still managed to finish the job with Onion.
-Into the Gym where the two trainers fell easily to Lettuce and Pepper.
-Cheren's team was Lvl.11 Mareep and Lvl.13 Gothitelle, Carrot makes short work of Mareep and almost takes out Gothitelle until it crits a Judgement and knocks him out. Pepper finishes the job though with Lava Plume.
-With that first badge is recieved with TM83 Snatch.

Well mine is a toss up between Zorua, Keldeo, and the Snivy line all of them are awesome though Zorua/Zoroark, and Snivy's line are the only ones I've used a bunch.
