god. i love. pokemon music. so very much. it floods me with so much cozy nostalgia. i have a list of favorites saved to the testing zone (made sure to save it from Azuri) but it's far from complete, I think it's especially missing some route themes (and some links don't work oh no). i need to work on this some more, ty for reminding me hehe.
Agreed, so many of the games have great music. Not just the main series but the spinoffs too.
Particular highlights for me include:
Kanto Gym Leader Battle, GSC. Such a fast-paced and thrilling battle theme. Pretty much the entire soundtrack of GSC is awesome but this one really stands out.
Heavy Rain, RSE. It's really in its context in the game that this theme shines. On the first playthrough of Emerald when you're hotfooting it to the Sky Tower and the weather is going haywire, you know It Just Got Real. One of the finest moments in the series.
Club Leader Duel, Trading Card Game. I'm going to stick my neck out and say the TCG on Gameboy had the best gameplay of any Pokemon game of its era, and the battle music to go with it is great too.
Great Canyon, Blue Rescue Team. Just, Great Canyon.
Fire Island Volcano, Super Mystery Dungeon. Starts off with a digeridoo, OK, but then when the fiddle kicks in it's so awesome! Whoever thought up an Irish-Aborginal fusion for a music track deserves a medal.
There are so many someday I may make a top 100 list. For now, some that come to mind are Vermilion City, Indigo Plateau, RBY Champion Battle, GSC Kanto Gym Battle, Lance/Red, Mt. Silver, Route 113, Archie/Maxie theme, Weather Trio Theme, Steven Theme, Old Chateau, Giratina (Platinum), Spear Pillar, Cynthia, N's Farewell, N Battle, BW Credits, Route 10 (BW), Xerneas/Yveltal, Route 16 (Kalos), Wally (ORAS battle), Guzma, Lusamine, Altar of the Sunne/Moone, and Champion/Title Defense.
