Vast Poni Canyon Trial Update

I think I may have missed a kahuna update, but nothing much has happened. For this trial I rolled through it with Crabominable and some boosted ice punches. The -I’d didn’t stand a chance, and they all went down along with the Totem. As long as Necrozma doesn’t wreck me, I expect to be coasting to the E4.

Luckily it didn’t go too poorly. My tyranitar was 58, so I threw I Darkium Z on him, and (after mostly eating a smart strike) one shot him with a Dark Z Crit. I have definitely wiped on him before though haha.

Seafolk Village/Mina Trial Update/Hapu Grand Trial

Hey everyone! Been a bit, but I finished up Mina’s trial, and went and battled Hapu for the Grand Trial this morning. After defeating Necrozma, I headed back to Seafolk village. After beating Mina she sent me on the petal and battle scavenger hunt. The totem Ribombee was pretty easy for Gengar to take down with a couple of Sludge Bombs. After wrapping that up, I headed over to Exeggutor Island for Hapu. I led with Crabominable and took down her Golurk, Mudsdale, and Flygon with some beefy Ice Punches. When she swapped into Flygon I swapped over to Tyranitar and finished up the grand trial with a DarkZ. On to the Pokémon league!

Alola Pokémon League Update

Molayne:
I led with Tyranitar, and didn’t have to swap out. Between brick break, Earthquake, and Fighting Z, I took out his whole team, with a minor scare when Metagross landed a Hammer Arm.

Olivia:
Crabominable rolled through Olivia with an easy power-up-punch spam. Not much else to say on this one.

Acerola:
Gengar was my choice here. Once again, another easy win. Outsped everything, and swept with a shadow ball spam.

Kahili:
I tore through 4 of 5 with Magnezone before Oricorio took me down with a Revelation Dance. Despite the loss, Crabominable finished off the job. Hopefully 5/6 Pokémon left will do the trick for the Champion.

Hau:
This battle went pretty sloppy. I led with Tyranitar, but Raichu took me down with a focus blast crit. Next I brought out Gengar hoping to outspeed with a shadowball, but once again raichu took me down with a psychic. Next out Nagadel, unfortunately, one more fell to Raichu. Crabominable luckily was able to take it down. Next up, Tauros. Crabominable was able to one shot it with a power-up-punch. Incineroar came up next and took out Crabominable with its Z attack. Last up I had Primarina. Fitting, because it was my first and last. I used Prima Z to take out Incineroar. Next up Leafeon, and I took it down with ice beam. Crabominable next, and I took it down with a moonblast. Last up Noivern. Easy kill with an ice beam. And just like that, Ultra Moon is done!

Congratulations on the victory. Timed that well, considering Sword and Shield around the corner. Must have been sweating during that final fight.
I definitely was. I was about to throw my DS haha. Glad I could pull it out with Primarina though.
Unfortunately I still need to get through Let’s Go Eevee! before Sword/Shield. They’ll just have to wait on my shelf until I truck through that.

So, I’m getting ready to start my Let’s Go Eevee Nuzlocke. If you have played it or Pikachu, you know that standard nuzlocke rules don’t quite cut it, so this is what I’m going to be playing with.

Feel free to pick at my rules or give input, but here it goes!

Rules:
  • Standard Nuzlocke
  • No Dupes
  • White/Blackout game over
  • Cant catch/use legendaries
  • Battle mode Set
  • I can avoid Pokémon on a route to catch something, but if i accidentally encounter something, that is my first fight.
  • I can grind by catching Pokémon after my first catch on a route, but I must release them.
  • I will not use the candies gathered through these catches because it was merely a catch for experience.
  • I have to battle every trainer I see, this will keep me from avoiding difficult trainers.
  • Trades count as first encounter, if I haven’t encountered anything in the area yet. As do gifted Pokémon.
  • Level Cap - Highest Pokémon within 5 levels of current gym that I am going to’s highest Pokémon.

Oooh, Let's Go already? :audino: whether you're going to use my suggestions from the first page, but allow me to remind you (and everyone) about it:
And for Let's Go nuzlocke, I do have some suggestions but haven't tried them yet (I don't have Switch, let alone Let's Go), so...
  • Only first catch per area can be used. Subsequent catches in the same area are only allowed for grinding due to the game mechanics and they must be released ASAP.
  • Dupes clause is only applicable for Pokemon you can use (read: your legal captures). Also, a second Pikachu/Eevee (depending on your game) counts for the first encounter since your starter can't evolve. However, a third one no longer counts. Probably irrelevant since you're going no dupes.
Also, about the level caps, Sabrina's gym requires someone at level 45 or more for entry while her squad is around level 43-44. How will you handle it?

My plan is to not level higher than 5 above, so the 45 there shouldn’t be an issue. And I’m going to try and keep it as close as I can anyway. I do like the idea of using catches for xp and releasing them. This will definitely be interesting, and a good warm up for sword/shield!

Celadon City Gym Update

This was another easy one for me, as I continue to cruise through Let’s go Eevee(I need to get done quickly because I now have Sword and Shield sitting on my counter). I relied on my newly acquired Alolan Ninetails for this gym. Easily swept all of her Pokémon with some Ice Beams, and just like that the 4th gym is down. My team is also coming together very nicely at this point. Hopefully they all stick around to the end!

Once again, this was a pretty easy fight. I used Ninetails, and after two calm minds, and a max potion to top off, I was able to sweep Giovanni’s team with Ice Beams. Last gym down, with no losses yet. On to the elite 4 to wrap up my Let’s Go Eevee! Nuzlocke run.

Let’s Go Eevee! Elite 4 Update

This was honestly my easiest Nuzlocke, as well as my easiest Pokémon League. I breezed through all of the members of the elite for with only using one Pokémon each. I then took down my rival with my Alolan Raichu. I calm mind boosted for a few turns eating his Pidgeots heat waves. Topped off with a full restore, and proceeded to dismantle his team. And just like that, my last pre SwSh nuzlocke is done.

Pre Sword Blind Nuzlocke Post

So, as I’ve said, this will be a blind nuzlocke. The only info that I have going into this is the gym leaders max level Pokémon so that I know my level caps. I don’t know their types or Pokémon or anything else about these games, so hopefully this goes well! Below are the rules I’ll be playing with for this run.

  • Standard Nuzlocke
  • No Dupes
  • White/Blackout game over
  • Cant catch/use legendaries
  • Battle mode Set
  • I will Attempt to encounter the first random [!] encounter but if an overworld sneaks me thats my first.
  • Each divided area is a new chance for encounter.
The gyms highest(and my cap) are: 20(25)/24(29)/27(32)/36(41)/38(43)/42(47)/46(51)/48(53)

Turrfield Gym Update

I started out with my dice roll for starter selection, and was (hopefully) lucky enough to get Scorbunny. After following Hop around a bit, and dealing with Leon’s ego, I captured a Nickit on Route 1. I was pretty excited to get a dark type for my first capture.

I got myself my Pokédex, and headed on to Route 2 after exploring Wedgehurst. Route 2 was my first experience with an overworld Pokémon chasing me down. Before I entered the grass, a Chewtle sprinted out, and engaged me before I could avoid it. I caught Chewtle as my Route 2 capture, so overall pretty happy with the experience.

After racing Hop back to Wedgehurst and taking the train to the wild area, an NPC gave me an Eevee in the station, which was a surprising addition. From here i entered the wild area.

It was much larger than I expected, and I definitely got pretty side tracked trying to explore every nook and cranny. In the Rolling fields I caught an Electrike. I spent a lot of time running around getting Watts, and I tried a Dynamax battle in the West Lake Axwell area, catching myself a Wooper and getting some nice drops along with it.

I went up to Motostoke next for the Gym Challenge Opening Ceremony, it was pretty awesome seeing a packed stadium, and the gym leaders all gathered together, although I wish I didn’t have to wear the cheesy uniform!

After the ceremony I wanted to get another catch or two in the wild areas. I caught a Ghastly from a dynamax battle in West Lake Axwell. I figured this was an awesome addition to my party. I also found out that I can’t evolve my gift Eevee, so I swapped it out of my party for the Electrike I caught.

Heading back into Motostoke to get to route 3 I battled Hop again, and laid the smackdown on him.

Heading out to Route 3, my Scorbunny leveled to 16 and evolved into Raboot. I also added a Rolycoly to my collection here. First Galar fave experience with the Galar Mine. It had some beautiful textures, and I made it through no problem, catching a Woobat in there.

I took down the Arrogant Bede pretty easily with my newly evolved Thievul. Route 4 was pretty uneventful, but I added a cool Steel Meowth.

Turrfield Gym! After herding some Wooloo, it was time for my first gym battle. It was pretty straightforward for me, I went in with Raboot, Dynamaxed him off the draw, and one shotted both of his Pokémon. And just like that, one gym down!

A gift (but non-evolvable) :eevee:, huh? Is it from your previous game in this playthrough? I mean, you did play Let's Go Eevee before, right? :hmmazurill:

Hulbury Gym Update

Should be a pretty short update because it was only one town over..

Heading down route 5, I was being pretty careless, and lost my Electrike to a Wobbuffet’s destiny bond (ouch). Other than that I made it to Hulbury town without issue. After losing Electrike, I realized that I had nothing super effective for this gym so I headed down to the Wild Area to resolve that.

I was lucky enough to find a Bounsweet pretty quickly in the Dappled Grove.

After some leveling, and evolving of Bounsweet, it was time for the gym.

The puzzle and trainers were pretty easy before the gym, so I was pretty confident facing Nessa. Unfortunately that didn’t last long.

I led with Steenee, and Dynamaxed of the go. I one shotted her first two, but her Dreadnaw lived through my first attack, and away went my Dynamax. I definitely could not take a second hit, so I swapped into Thievul.

Unfortunately it was the end of the road for Thievul here, but he lasted long enough to ride out Dreadnaw’s Dynamax. After that, I swapped back to Steenee to wrap it up.

RIP Electrike and Thievul..

Yeah, I’ve played Eevee and Pikachu. I’m pretty sure that’s what they’re from because the girl next to that person gave me a Pikachu as well. Oh well, the pains of having no clue what’s going on in this game, and talking to every person lol.

Motostoke Gym Update

After defeating Nessa, I headed down through Galar Mine 2 (creative naming). After clearing that out, I found myself in the Motostoke Outskirts, where I was pleasantly surprised to encounter a Hatenna as soon as I stepped into some grass. Don’t know when/if it evolves, but I certainly hope so.
From here I realized that I was pretty under leveled for this gym, so I decided to head down to the Wild Areas. Down there I ran into a Farfetch’d in the Giants Mirror, which was pretty exciting.
After spending the night, and having a double battle with Hop against some Team Yell folks(and somehow evolving Farfetch’d into Sirfetch’d), I was ready for Kabu.
The trial was a bit confusing(I may have skimmed the instructions, because I didn’t realize I needed the killing blow, so it took a bit longer, but I wrapped it up eventually no problem.. On to Kabu.
I led with Drednaw and Dynamaxed off the start. Despite turn 1 burn, I one shotted his Ninetails. Next up Arcanine, which again, despite a burn and now an intimidate attack cut, I still managed to one shot. Last up was his Centiskroch. Unfortunately I didn’t even get it to half, so I popped a burn heal when my Dynamax wore off, and then a super potion the next turn, which rode out his Dynamax. From here it was an easy kill with Razor Shell.
My next order of business will be to get something new to replace Gurdurr, and to get a bit more leveling in.

Stow-on-Side Gym Update

After finishing Hulbury gym, I knew that I needed to do some leveling and boosting up my team. I headed back out to the Wild Area and made some sweet additions to my party, specifically Impidimp, who is one of the strangest Pokémon I’ve yet to see.

After cruising through quite a few Dynamax raids, I decided it was time to move on. My whole team was mid 30s, and I’d added some nice TR moves into the mix.

Once I played out the story progression in Hammerlocke, I moved out to Route 6, where tragedy struck. A trainers Clefable Metrenome ganked my Sirfetch’d.

Luckily after that sad loss, a couple of feet later I encountered a new ground Pokémon, Silicobra. I also luckily had enough XP candies from my grinding to instantly boost it up to the rest of my team, and evolve it into Sandaconda.

Finally I reached Stow-On-Side, and healed up my team. From here I headed straight to the gym, ready for my 4th badge. After an interesting teacup puzzle, it was time to face down Bea.

I led with Hattrem, taking down her first two with some Super Effective psychics. Then on her 3rd, I Dynamaxed. This made the last two, including her Gigantamaxed Machamp, a breeze. After a Hattrem sweep, I received my 4th badge!
