1.ALLMarriland and Roleplaying Rules will apply. These rules will be strictly enforced, so breaking them is not tolerated. To remind you, apps can ONLY be posted in the Campfire Thread, and reserves can ONLY be sent through PM.
2. Posts must be at least 5 sentences OR 7 lines long. However, I WILL allow the occasional shorter post. However, they must be decent, and I will not tolerate bad spelling or grammar. Triple-read a post before posting it, please.
3. Keep OOC-chatter in the Campfire or Discord. When you're accepted, you will be invited to the Rise of Lucifer Discord server (this is subject to change, I’ll let people know)UPDATE: This will be moving to the RP Club Discord. Please remember to keep non-in-character discussion there.
4. Please commit and COMMUNICATE. Post at least once a month. If for any reason you need to leave, PLEASE notify me and work out a solution for your character. I can't stress this point enough. Otherwise, your character WILL be killed off and the spot will open again for someone else.
5. Most importantly, HAVE FUN.
1. PM me to reserve a sword. DO NOT put the sword on your application. However, this is not infallible, especially if people reserve the same sword. If a sword has already been reserved, you will be asked to reserve another. Feel free to put multiple choices down in order of preference.
2. You will have 2 chances for your character to get accepted. If your character is critiqued as PENDING, you will have another chance. Use it wisely, as, if it still isn't up to snuff, you will be banned from creating any more characters. Posting history is also an important factor, so if you're known to show up, then go poof for long periods, chances are you won't be accepted. This will also factor in your sword reservation.
3. There will only be 7 characters accepted overall. This RP will not start until all 7 slots have been filled, and no more characters can join after that.
4. While your character will become a wielder during the course of the roleplay, and you can post the Sword Pokemon's moveset and such on your app once you receive the sword, you cannot post for them. I was originally going to allow this, but the risk of not writing to their character is extremely high, so I will continue to post for the Sword Pokemon.
5. You are only allowed 1 Non-Legendary, Non-Mythical Pokemon on your team. However, you can create a Bond Phenomenon for them if they are fully evolved. (If they are not fully evolved yet, they can still gain a Bond Phenomenon form if they evolve fully during the RP) Ultra Beasts count as Legendary/Mythical. This is ancient times, so people wouldn't be able to bond with Ultra Beasts as of yet.
Teddy stands at 4'11'' and is 150 lbs, making him a pretty small kid, even for a 14-year-old. Being the son of farmers, he has nicely toned muscles from working and has very little baby fat left. He has blondish-orange hair, dark red eyes, and fair skin. His eyes shine with youth and vigor.
Teddy wears clothes that are meant to be more practical than pretty. He wears a thin tunic made of a material similar to burlap and baggy pants that he rolls up to his knees. He wears a belt to keep his pants up with a small pouch on his left side for storage. He prefers to either go barefoot or wear sandals. Over all of this, he wears a thin pale yellow hooded cape to help block against the sun.
He has a medium-register voice and a small nose.
Good Traits: Carefree | Energetic | Sociable | Friendly | Imaginative
Bad Traits: Mischevious | Naive | Clueless to world outside Uluki
Teddy is about as childlike and innocent as a kid his age can get. He has a seemingly unlimited amount of energy and seems to rarely slow down. He has a cheery, bubbly demeanor that has been instilled in him through worship of the Lady Tsuru. He's a pretty dedicated follower of her as well, and loves stopping by to help the elder shrine-keepers once in a while. He enjoys keeping them company, and, frankly, he enjoys just about anybody's company! Teddy is talkative and a good speaker who loves meeting and getting to know people. He knows how to turn on the charm, if you know what I mean.
He also has an incredibly vivid and overactive imagination. Teddy loves reenacting scenes from his favorite myths and stories with Pepper and his friends. He also enjoys coming up with his own stories for his friends and to entertain folks with. Sometimes, this imagination can really help in a pinch; Teddy has been known to come up with crazy and complex solutions to even the simplest of problems.
Teddy's got his flaws, though. While not nearly as bad as his Phanpy cohort, Teddy has a mischievous streak that runs wild. Remember that imagination of his? Well, combine that with this, and you can have a recipe for absolute chaos. While Teddy makes sure not to explicitly hurt anyone with his trickery - if he does, he feels bad and does what he can to make it right - he can still be one of the more wild kids in the village.
Teddy's youth and lack of wisdom leads to him being a bit gullible. Tricking him or getting him carried away can be ridiculously easy, and he, like many kids his age, can make some pretty dumb decisions. Teddy has also never left the Uluki Desert, and knows a very limited amount about the world outside of it.
Teddy, to be honest, lived a fairly happy life free of reality-shattering tragedy. He was the middle child of 5 in a family of farmers in Uluki Village. Although the entire family worked tirelessly to keep themselves sustained in the harsh desert, the Tanakas had a philosophy of "work hard, play hard." Nobody exemplified this better than Teddy's father, who would work in the fields with Roland at night, and come in and play pretend and tell stories to his kids in the afternoon after he got some sleep. It was from this man that Teddy inherited a number of personality traits like his positivity and bountiful energy.
Teddy learned the farming trade from his parents and received basic schooling from the village teacher. In his early years, Teddy was a pretty tame kid. He was friendly and energetic, sure, but he kind of kept to himself. His older siblings weren't always the nicest, and, having just started schooling a short while earlier, he wasn't too close with any of his peers.
He was however, fairly close to the village elder, and took great interest in the village's religion and Lady Tsuna. The elder would delightfully tell Teddy's parents after many childrens' lessons on worship day about the boy's dedication and inquisitive questions. Learning about the religion of Uluki gave him an environment to come into his own as a person.
When he met Pepper, the previously mellow boy came out of his shell even more. Before his parents knew it, he had become the talk of the town with his goofy, lighthearted antics and his charming personality. He made a lot of new friends and impressed people with his zany imaginatiom. Despite these changes, he continued to be loyal to his family, Lady Tsuna, and his village.
Species (Nickname): Phanpy (Pepper) Gender: Female Moves: Rollout, Ice Shard, Endure, Earthquake Personality: Pepper is extremely energetic and sociable, just like her human counterpart. The main thing that sets the two apart, though, is Pepper's penchant for pranks. Although Teddy definitely gets into more trouble than he should, Pepper is downright infuriating at times. Joking around and causing ruckusses are like breathing for her, but she doesn't usually do so with mean intentions. She might push a prank right to the point where it isn't funny anymore, but she'll back down before she crosses that line. She's also pretty snarky and sarcastic. How they met your character: Pepper is a daughter of a Donphan owned by another Uluki Village family. She was given to the Tanakas with her brother, Roland, to help out on the farm when Teddy was 8 or so. The two became fast friends due to their similar personalities and their shared talent for mischief-making. Teddy and Pepper are practically inseparable and go everywhere together when there isn't work or schooling to be done. Other: N/A.
OOC: Lemme know if changes are needed or any clarifications/edits! ^.^ Otherwise, here she is, The Teacher!
"A smart man runs his mouth, but a wise one listens." HazelMilton
Username: Eevee Nicknames: Eevee; Lizzy; Royale; Raere - I'll respond to any of those. :p Discord: Raere#4667 Color: Hazel will speak and think in #c1a1d4.
Name: Hazel Milton Gender: Female Age: 22 Appearance: Hazel is an average height and weight girl, maybe a bit on the taller side to the other women around her and a little slimmer. She doesn't have a lot of muscle, but enough to carry her weight around the house and to do menial labor chores. Her hair is a rich chocolate color with russet tinges when the sunlight catches it just right. It's often worn down to just about her mid-back with a single loose braid on the right side of Hazel's head while the rest of her hair frames her face. Her eyes are the most striking feature about her. They are round and curious with a unique light violet-blue color. She always seems to have this look that seems to be studying the world around her. Most of the time she wears a mix of colors, but which often includes a darker off-white, beige, cream, or brown.
Personality: Hazel has always been afraid of coming off too uppity. She knows that she's smart but she fears that people will shun her for intelligence. As such, she often keeps to herself until people look to her for aid. It becomes lonely at times for she feels that she has a wealth of knowledge to share. To cope, Hazel instead turns to learn more or delve deeper into a topic that she knows something about. "There's always more to learn, no matter how much you know," is what she often tells herself.
Hazel finds solace in working hard as much as she does in studying hard. Sometimes she wants one more than the other and gets a bit grumpy if she has to do something she doesn't desire. Each time she feels angry though, she takes time to be by herself as she often does when overcome by emotion. Hazel finds it hard to share emotion with people even if she feels strongly about one subject or another. When she is able to connect with someone, she's overjoyed. Often, she finds herself dominating a conversation with someone if she likes them. When she does realize what's she doing, she gets a little stiff and quieter fearing that they'll think she's too forceful or annoying.
Hometown: Thulong Village Backstory: With a father from Jormun Village and a mother from Tholung Village, you could say that Hazel has an odd mix. To get to know her is to get to know her family.
On her father's side, they taught her humility and harmony and kinship. He was a small-time miller living on the outskirts of Jormun Village next to the flowing waters. It was a simple life for him doing what he'd known for years with his family and living happily. To him, there was harmony in where he was and glee being together with those he loved.
On her mother's side, they taught her to push herself and strive for new heights and knowledge. She was nomadic and traveled across the continent in order to spread her family's wealth of knowledge. They were teachers and they weren't afraid to be shunned for their aggressive teachings. Those that wanted to learn would learn.
If he hadn't gone to the open lesson on better farming techniques then they probably wouldn't have met. Her words were met with disdain and her demeanor wasn't one that was necessarily inviting. But, he saw the best in her and approached her. Their worlds collided and soon enough, they settled in Thulong Village and had their daughter.
Thus, Hazel was born to two different worlds. When they visited her father's side in the small little mill, she would laugh and dance and forget about her studies. When they visited her mother's side in the grand home settled in Thulong Village, she would engage in the utmost intellectual conversation. Well, at least she tried. She was never able to feel a passion for her mother's family, not like on her father's side. There was no love in their conversation, all they wanted to do was one-up another family member. She felt shunned as they jabbed at her lack of input. Even then, her father's side wasn't all perfect. Occasionally they would rile her up and she would be feeling that connection. She would start spouting off as much knowledge as she had held in for the past few months. Then they would look at her, get quiet, and mumble to themselves. And once again, she would feel shunned.
She found solace in expanding her knowledge as much as possible by herself. She would talk to the trees or the stones or the flowing waters. Her parents noticed this behavior and they understood exactly that feeling. They took action. They procured an egg from a Thulong breeder and gifted it to her as a friend that would listen. She was ecstatic and began to read, play, and teach her egg all that she had stored up inside. Eventually, the egg hatched into an adorable Shinx; an adorable, spunky Shinx. He was troublesome as he grew up and became stronger. When Hazel and her Shinx would meet with the other kids, they would jab at her for avoiding any sort of intellectual input. Shinx wouldn't stand for it, shocking the kids and picking fights with their Pokemon. For a while, she would pull him back and deal with his angry protests. Then one day, while she was reading the latest battling news to her partner, it clicked. These kids would bash her for never speaking up, but she would show them in a different way. She and Shinx began to battle the kids and show their strength. Her father was proud of her and spoke to her the words that she lives by: "A smart man runs his mouth, but a wise one listens." Though he was talking about her strategic battle style, they both knew it meant more. It was the first time she felt validation. There was more to boasting your intelligence. Sometimes you learn the most if you just listen first. Sometimes to teach, you must listen first.
As Hazel grew so did Shinx; into Luxio into Luxray. She became strong, by far not the strongest in her village, but strong. Yet still, she never boasted and she never bragged. However, she did earn some type of respect even though she still felt shunned. After all the battles and years of Luxray soaking in the glow of winning, Hazel still couldn't bring herself to find her voice to speak up. Luxray and her never agreed on that, but he would still come to sit next to her and listen to her lessons far into the evening.
Now, her parents urge her to find her own path. "You're at home for too long," her mother would say and reminisce about her early nomad days. "There's a whole world out there, don't miss it," her father would smile. And now, Hazel finally feels it too.
Species (Nickname): Luxray Gender: Male Moves: Ice Fang; Thunder Fang; Crunch; Charge Personality: Luxray doesn't take foolery from anyone. In comparison to his partner, he will gladly "speak" up about his dislikes or what he thinks. Often, this is delivering a bite or a shock to those that cross him. He is not hard to annoy either. He is fiercely loyal, especially to Hazel, though he disagrees with her lack of assertiveness. Occasionally, he even steps over her to take charge of a situation if he doesn't believe in her to believe in herself. There are times that he understands his boundaries and will always take the time to listen and sit quietly with his partner when she needs it. Backstory: He was delivered to Hazel as an egg and that was when the connection started to form. Even as an egg, he heard her voice and her worries and grew with her. Other: They have not yet had a bond phenomenon. When they do, however, there are sparks that dance across his fur and his yellow markings and star on his tail take on a golden glow. His mane also grows longer and stands like it's waving in the wind.
Hope is of relatively average height, standing at 5'4", and weighing about 140 lbs. She's well built due to her way of life, well capable of protecting herself if the need arises. Because she doesn't leave the farm much, her usual attire is a patched farming tunic, but whenever she needs to go somewhere, she often wears a simple green dress that goes down to her knees, along with a her worn but trusted straw hat. She usually works barefoot, but has some comfortable white sandals for when she needs to go out. She is also usually seen carrying a small brown shoulder bag, which usually contains some berries and/or Nei.
Patience is one of Hope's prime traits: anyone that knows her in any capacity quickly discovers she's a really difficult person to annoy. She's able to put up with impossible amounts of provocation without breaking, and is always ready to lend an ear to a friend in need, which ends up happening often. That doesn't come without its drawbacks however, as she tends to stay quiet about what she really thinks, even to the ones she trusts the most, not out of timidness, but because she believes her problems are her burdens alone.
Hope can be a bit picky with which people she actually considers her friends. That can be explained with her trusting nature: she needs to be sure her friends are trustworthy, so she can believe and defend them until the very end. The way she goes about deciding who's "worthy" is unknown, though depending on the person she can instantly warm up to them, or take a while to finally yield.
Though she's not a woman of many words, she's very strong-willed and will defend her ideals to the very end. This also means, however, that she is more prone to exhaustion than other people. If not given enough time to recharge, patience will make way to laziness, and she'll not be able to do much until she gets to rest properly. Also, due to her headstrong nature, she can end up defending the wrong point of view, and sticking to it until someone can prove her wrong.
When faced with a fight-or-flight situation, she'd much rather choose the latter, but if her friends or ideals are at stake, she'll fight to the end to ensure both remain safe.
Hope's story begins on a late night, at her hometown of Jormun. Her delivery room was the rickety wooden building her family called their barn, and the doctor was her aunt, as her father was shaking too much for such a delicate operation. In the end all went well, as she was lucky to greet the world as a healthy baby. Her parents decided to name her "Hope", given the current circumstances they were going through at the time.
The Dumont Family had been in the farming business for at least ten generations, and down through those generations was passed a vast field, on which they planted every fruit and vegetable imaginable, from berries to beans, even having some special hives for harvesting honey. However, at the time of Hope's birth, the amount of people working at the farm was dwindling, which made it difficult to manage. Because of this, Hope learned to help out from a very young age, learning from her father all the tricks passed down through the generations.
Hope enjoyed helping out at the farm; she loved the process of taking something so innocent and pure as a seed and caring for it, nurturing it, until it finally grew from a sapling into a majestic fruit-bearing tree, from which more seeds could be taken, completing the cycle. As she got older, she started getting more and more responsibilities on the farm, until she was able to mostly cover for her parents, who were starting to get too old for the harder jobs.
However, something would eventually come that would test her dedication to her farm. It was late at night, and Hope, 19 years old by then, slept soundly after another day of hard work. She started having a nightmare: fire as far as the eye could see, burning everything in sight, and quickly coming after her. She tried to get away, but ended up running in place, as the scorching heat grew and grew until suddenly it consumed her. She woke up with a jump, and that's when she noticed the real nightmare. She watched, horrified, as a large chunk of the field was engulfed in flames, spreading through the farm slowly but surely. She woke up her parents and the rest of her family as fast as she could, and they then proceeded to fight the fire with everything they had, in what was the most horrible night of her life. The last flickering flame was extinguished just as the sun started to rise; luckily no buildings were damaged, but the field was almost completely burnt and barren, with only a small amount of crops and trees having resisted the fire.
The next few days were filled with uncertainty, as Hope and her father discussed their futures. Her dad thought the farm was doomed to never bear fruit again, and suggested they sold the field and moved to a nearby town in order to cut their losses; however, Hope refused to leave the farm that saw her grow up, the farm they were entrusted with by their ancestors. In the end, they could not reach a consensus, so they each went their own way: her family would move away, while she would stay behind and care for the farm however she could. The farewell was tough, but Hope was determined to bring the farm back from the ashes.
From there, Hope would spend her toughest years yet, working hard day and night in order to revive the sterile soil. Eventually, through much blood, sweat and tears, results started to show up, as the plantable area of the field grew bigger and bigger every month. Currently, while the farm itself is only halfway through its recovery, Hope is still working hard, so that one day her family could move back in and resume their lives as their were before the fire.
Species (Nickname): Cherubi (Nei) Gender: Female Moves: -Magical Leaf
-Heal Pulse Personality: Nei's very close to Hope, to the point where she gets very nervous whenever she's separated from her owner. She's timid and easily scared, but also very sweet and caring if she feels safe. She tends to hide from every new face that appears, though she warms up to good people easily, which brings her back to her usual bright mood. How they met your character: Cherubi appeared in the Dumont farm after the fire; because the flames also consumed a big portion of the surrounding forest, the Cherubi was left without a home. Because Hope needed some help with the farm, she ended up taking her in, though overtime she began to cherish her presence, and they grew up to be good friends. While she looks like she can't do much, Nei's true strength came from convincing other Pokémon to help out and cheering them on, which sped up the recovery of the field immensely. Other: She will have a Bond Phenomenon state when she evolves, which will be revealed then.
Julian has very messy bluish-black hair and grayish-blue eyes. His skin is pale and his head is angular. His expression is normally set in a serious face or a scowl, and he's not very prone to smiles.
His body build is on the tall side, though not towering above others. His muscles and lean body show he regularly world out, but he's covered by a dark cloak over his regular village burlaps; simple and flexible to allow movement.
Julian is a generally serious individual; not prone to joking or goofing around, but he has an insatiable curiosity and sees battling as a way to focus, grow stronger, and learn more about others and himself. He's smart and fierce about his goals, and protective of his belief system and those he cares about. He may, at times, show intolerance of differing views from his own or when he perceives someone may hold him back from his true potential.
For Julian it's not enough to be a simple musician or a lowly thief or assasain, instead, he looks looking for power and respect; to be recognized above others for his strength and wisdom. He wishes, perhaps naively, to reshape the world into his dreams of justice, equality and strength, and for his village and other narrow-sighted people to see the error in their ways. To reach his goals, he's set to travel the world, learn from the different villages and become the strongest. The first step in his journey is becoming worthy of Lord Cauchear and succeeding in the test set by the Sword Pokemon.
Julian was the son of a musician father and an assassain mother. Both were apt at what they did, and Julian's mother did posess a talent with her voice and citar. They told their son about the village's activities of attacking or stealing from other villages to get what they wanted. They said those activities helped their village prosper, because music alone would not sustain them.
But he wasn't satisfied with this explanation and began questioning these believes. Julian had met members from other villages on festivals and other events, and he didn't see what made them so different or deserving of the Klor village's treatment, plus Julian's village could rely on other means of life. The villagers didn't listen, though, and his parents warned him that any more acts of disobedience could be dangerous. In a village as secretive as this one, they didn't know what kind of punishment they would get from the village elders, after all. So instead, Julian and Fyre continued to train side by side, strengthening their body and mind, and making the decision to attempt Lord Cauchemar's test. If they worked hard enough they would achieve their dreams and show the narrow-minded people the error in their ways.
Ember, Howl, Bite, Fire Fang
Fyre is loyal, protective and obedient to Julian. He loves him, and feels for him, but he doesn't feel such a strong drive to prove himself as Julian does. Of course, though, he understands his parter's desires and is ready to support him. When with strangers, this Houndour is contantly vigilant, and only relaxes once he knows there is no danger. Meanwhile, though, once he relaxes and trusts someone, he becomes more playful and affectionate.
How they met your character:
Fyre had a beginning as a stray. He wasn't bred from strong Houndooms, so he wasn't chosen for anyone in particular. But he met Julian when the blue-eyed boy was around seventeen years of age. Julian gave him attention, fed him and cleaned him. Fyre was taken by Julian and his kindness, though he also quickly learned aout his partner's curiosity and fierceness. They have grown together ever since, and they understand each other quite well. Fyre preferred to stay at his Houndour stage for some time longer than the norm, and Julian decided to let him for a while, they had more time to train and prepare themselves for Lord Cauchemar's test, after all. But they were both surprised when, by comparison to other Houndooms from their village, Fyre seemed to learn certain moves with more ease and faster. So Julian just decided to let Fyre evolve when both felt ready for the great challenge ahead.
