Hi guys

So this will be the third leg of out GenerationLocke. This game finally adds abilities into the games which obvious adds a lot more depth into the games.

Current order of games. The order is currently Red, Crystal, Emerald, Fire Red, Platinum, Heart Gold, White, White 2, X and then Ultra Sun. This order is subject to change. A lot of people breed off their champion team to the next game. I am undecided if I will be implementing this rule, if I do then it won't be until the 3rd generation of games due to it being hard to send between the eshop versions of Red and Crystal. I would like to hear weather you think I should implement this rule.
So without further ado, lets go over the rules of this run.

Standard Nuzlocke rules will apply this time.
  1. I will only be able to catch the first Pokemon I encounter on each route
  2. If a Pokemon dies I will be considering it dead to be released or boxed
  3. All Pokemon will be nicknamed, no naming theme this time though
  4. If I encounter a shiny I will be allowed to catch and use it
  5. If I encounter a Pokemon from an evolution line I've already caught it will not count as my first encounter
  6. I will be trying to not over level my Pokemon but this is not a hard rule

Red

Pokemon: Vileplume
Nickname: Fall
Type: Grass, Poison
Level 42
Moveset: Mega Drain, SolarBeam, Stun Spore, Cut
Notes: This guy finished off the run as the only sole survivor for my Red Nuzlocke. I had neglected her a lot over the run due to Grass not being effective for a large portion of the day but she came in clutch for the victory

Crystal

Pokemon: Elekid (Electric)
Nickname: Pepper
Level: 40
Moves: Quick Attack, Swift, Dizzy Punch, ThunderPunch

Pokemon: Zubat (Poison/Flying)
Nickname: Apple
Level: 40
Moves: Wing Attack, Fly, Bite, Confuse Ray

Pokemon: Skarmory
Nickname: Knight
Level: 40
Moves: Peck, Sand-Attack, Swift, Fly

Common tags I'll be using

Here I'll be writing about the events of the part

Our current Pokemon

Pokemon in the box

Those that we've lost

Will be keeping track of all my catches for the run here. This is mostly for my benefits but it's there if you want to read it

Part 1 - Another Beginning
So this is a short part. I'm not going to be going into super detail for random trainer battles for the beginning of the days. I'm not going to be documenting much before the first badge just because it's a bit tedious. But all future parts will be properly documented . I've just done the start of Emerald so many times that I just wanted to get through the start quickly.

So we chose Prowler the Treeko. My favourite starter for the third game is definitely Mudkip but I chose the Water starter in the last two games so it's best if I have a little bit of variety this time. Our total catch list after the first badge can be found below in the catch tracker. We managed to beat the first badge with Droplette the Marill being the only casualty. All future parts will be documented properly though.

Pokemon: Treeko (Grass)
Nickname: Prowler

Ability: Run Away
Level: 12
Moves: Tackle, Howl, Sand-Attack

Hold on, what's with all those names? I mean, I thought your naming theme would be fruits and veggies of all things. :thonkazurill:

Part 2 - Still Playing?
I haven't updated this in a while due to preparing for a big exam but I've been chipping away at it in the background whenever I've been able to. So after getting our first badge we headed to the cave up to the North to defeat Team Aqua and save the Wing gull. We got the PokeNav and chose to do the optional rival battle.

Rival Battle

I used Shade to kill the rival's Lotad before switching to Prowler for Torchic. Prowler used Quick Attack to kill Torchic fairly easily.

Once we arrived in Dewford Town we got the Old Rod and fished for a Magikarp. We caught and named it Splish. Next we got Dough the Makuhita in Granite Cave. Most of the team was trained up to level 17 for the Brawly fight.

Brawly Fight

Led with Bugs and killed Machop with two Gusts
Medetite took one Gust before using a Super Potion. Next time it took two Gusts before using another Super Potion. It died without landing a damaging move.
Makuhita took three Gusts to die. It landed one Vital Throw but it did barely any damage.

Pokemon: Grovyle (Grass)

Part 3 - Watson
Welcome back to another part. I feel like at this point I have some sort of excuse as to why I haven't been posting or not being super detailed. So this week I played some more up until the point until I got to Mauville City. Then I was smart and decided that I wanted to install the Outlook client on my PC. So I ripped Office off my PC and reinstalled. When I opened up OneNote again which is where I store my run updates it had lost my Emerald Notebook. So I lost my notes. So I'll summarize the part as I can best remember.

So we took the boat to the next town and defeated Team Aqua there. Heading onto Route 110 we caught NotPika the Minun. Heading further into the Route we had a rival battle. So we didn't have a lot of issues until we got to Combusken. I had a detailed breakdown for this battle written out but lost it so all I remember is that I swapped into Dough as he takes reduced damage to Fire. I forgot that the rival's Pokemon had Peck which killed Dough. After that we beat the rival. We added NotPika to the team.

So then I spent ages training Splish up to Level 20. After that we trained everybody else and headed for Watson. We led with Prowler. Voltorb used Self-Destruct killing Prowler. After Spark wasn't doing a lot of damage to Magneton I popped a Dire Hit and an X Attack. Around 2 Super Potions from Watson and a lot of Sparks later we managed to defeat it. Elektrike wasn't much trouble but Manetric killed both NotPika and Shade. Echo finished Manetric with Uproar. Badge get!

OUCH! Both in the battle and the computer stuff. I'd bet Shroomish could make a good addition to the team. What is it with these runs and self destruct? Also there's still only one death in the death spoiler.

Part 4 - LavaRidge Town
Am I still apologising for not updating this very often? Insert some excuse here. Seriously though I was away on holiday in the sun so hopefully nobody will hold my lack of updates against me. We've recovered quite well actually from the massacre that was the last update at Watson's gym. It has always been a run killer for me so I got off kind of easy with only a few deaths there.

Following on from our last badge I grabbed Shroom the Shroomish and Ziggy the Zigzagoon out of the PC. Breloom has always been one of those pokemon that I loved but have never really had the chance to use. Taught Ziggy Rock Smash. Caught Koto the Numel on Route 112. Caught Steam the Torkoal on the Fiery Path. Caught Dizzy the Spinda on Route 113. I was wondering why a snowy area had a Slugma but then I realized later on that it was meant to be ash and not snow...

Arrived in Fallarbor Town. Killed a Lotad on Route 114 with a crit. I caught Sunny the Solrock in the Meteor Falls. Defeated Magma Leader Maxie with no causalities I probably should have documented that fight but I didn't realise it was a big one until I was finished. Accidentally killed a Spoink encounter on the Jagged Pass.

Lavaridge Gym

Lead with Koto the Numel due to the Fire type resistance
Magnitude 6 on the enemy Numel
Flannery used a Hyper Potion
Magnitude 8 killed it this time
Killed Slugma with 2 magnitude
Swapped to Splish for Camerupt and killed it with 2 Dragon Rage.
Swapped back to Koto for Torkoal
Torkoal just tanked a Magnitude 10
Flannery used a Hyper Potion
Swapped back to Splish
Killed Torkoal in 3 Dragon Rage

Swapped out Ziggy for Sunny after the Badge, probably should have done it beforehand and trained him up... oops

Part 5 - Abusing Mechanics?
This one is a short one. After the last part I went to Mirage Tower and caught Sands the Sandshrew. Then I headed back onto Route 111 and caught Arnell the Trapinch. I pulled Arnell out the box and added him to the team.

Norman Fight

I lead with Splish so that I could continue to abuse Dragon Rage
Killed Spinda with two Dragon Rage
Swapped into Shroom for Vigaroth
Vigaroth got Paralyzed by Effect Spore
Next I abused a few Super Potions and around 7 Bulk Ups to max Shroom's Attack Stat.
Used Mach Punch and 1 hit Vigaroth
1 hit Linoone
1 hit Slaking

Does this count as abusing mechanics? I guess it's probably frowned upon but I was very scared of that Slaking.
Next we got Surf and taught it to Splish

Abusing mechanics? That's still a fair game, y'know. With no cheats involved, that is. :winkazurill:

Btw we're all bound to abuse some mechanics at some point (me too tbh) ._.

Unless you use a Gameshark or a cheat code, it's not "abusing" mechanics, it's using them. If it's coded into the game it's intended to be used. IMO. (Unless your rules specifically say not to use them).

Part 6 - Feather Badge
At the start of this update we have a death. Bugs was killed by a Carvanha using Crunch and getting a critical hit. He actually survived longer than I thought he would so that's a plus. Caught Charga the Electrike on Route 118 and used him to fill a Bugs shaped hole in the team. Quite a lucky find actually because I didn't know what my strategy was for the Flying gym. I killed my Kecleon encounter on Route 119. Cleared out Team Aqua in the Weather Institute with Charga fairly easily.

Rival Battle

1 hit Pelipper with Charga
Combusken took 2 Surfs from Splish
Lombre took 2 Dragon Rage from Splish

Splish is turning out to be a really strong member of the team. Got the Fly HM. Charga evolved into Manetric which I'm super excited about using. Caught Mirage the Absol on Route 120. Taught Koto Overheat before the gym.

Gym Battle

Led with Charga and 1 hit Swablu
Paralyzed Altaria with the 1st Spark
Didn't realize it had earthquake but Charga surprisingly tanked it
Switched to Splish
Altaria took 2 Dragon Rage to finish off after the Spark
Switched into Koto for Tropius
Tropius starting charging
Koto user Ember and burned Tropius
Switched back to Splish to tank the coming Solar Beam
Bite wasn't doing a lot so I started spamming Dragon Rage while Tropius spams Synthesis
Finally killed it after whittling it down with Dragon Rage
Swapped into Charga for Pelipper
Used a Hyper Potion
1 hit Pelipper
Switched to Koto for Overheat, 1 hit Overheat
Got the badge without too much issues

I'm considering switching out Echo for Mirage the Absol. What would people prefer to see on the team?

I don't think the team would be improved by the switch. You're not weak to Psychic and ghost would be countered effectively by Echo. And Exploud is just as crazy strong as Absol. That said, I like Absol and I don't think the switch would hurt either. So up to you.

Final update. Got wiped by the Elite 4 after a week of grinding. Bit soul crushing after a week of grinding but it happens. Will mark this one as a fail and move on. Will either be Fire Red of Platinum next. Considering skipping Fire Red but will see how I feel.

Didn’t see this, but I’m so sorry for you. Hope the next one is better. Gen 3 and 4 are so hard in the elite 4. The remakes were a little easier at least.
